WASHINGTON, D.C.: The US-China Business Council (USCBC) announced today the election of Evan Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chubb, as USCBC chair, as well as the election of other officers and board directors.
"For more than four decades, the US-China Business Council has represented American business interests in China, a very important market for US companies,” said Greenberg. “We advocate for greater US business access to and freedom of trade and investment in China, both of which will create more US jobs and benefit the Chinese people. At the same time, we support Chinese investment in the United States, which is a growing source of US job creation."
USCBC President John Frisbie announced the following elected officers:
Chair: Evan Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Chubb
Vice Chairs: Doug McMillon, President and Chief Executive Officer,Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and Marc Casper, President and Chief Executive Officer, Thermo Fisher Scientific
Secretary-Treasurer: Keith Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer, UL LLC
Counsel: Andrew W. Shoyer, Partner, Sidley Austin LLP
Frisbie said, “USCBC is privileged to have a board comprised of many of America’s best business leaders and I am delighted with the election of Evan Greenberg to serve as our chair. The United States has a significant economic interest in our relationship with China – much more than we did five or ten years ago. USCBC estimates that China currently is at least a $400 billion market for American companies, but lingering trade barriers keep it from being even more. With Evan’s leadership, USCBC will continue to expand business opportunities and knock down barriers so that American companies can make the most of cooperation between the world’s two largest economies.”
